My "Kids" (Animals)
Many people have kids, I have animals. Being a military wife, Jason (my husband) and I decided to wait until we were a little older to have kids. He is in the military and traveling all of the time, and I am at home working the business Full Time.
As a child I loved animals and that love has not faded…in fact it has strengthened And I invite you to meet my animals and see who I hang around with day-after-day!
(As a side note, you will see me with kids in some of my pictures. These are nieces and nephews that I hang around with on a constant basis. One of the nice things about working from home full time is that I get to watch them grow up and take them fun places or see them during the holidays.)
I will start with the oldest down:
Little One:
Little one is truly my baby, he does not like other people and he barely accepts Jason.
He was rescued from the Colorado State University Arena wall at 3 weeks old and I nursed him back to health.
Weighing in at 14 pounds, he is a big cat. (When he has his bath he looks like a skinny wet rat…it really is amusing!)
He loves sleeping on my desk next to me when I work, and stealing my chair any time I vacate it…a true momma’s boy to the core!
.
Taz:
My biggest baby and the alpha male of the pack.
Taz is a black lab mix, weighing in at 120 pounds, we rescued him from a place here in Colorado that takes puppies from non-kill shelters to find them homes.
He loves running, walking, playing in any body of water EXCEPT when it is in the bathtub. A very intelligent animal, and defiantly a daddy’s boy…but when Jason is away on his trips with the military, I am his next choice.
.
Duke:
Oh yes, we cannot forget the little brother.
Weighting in at 105 pounds, the runt of his litter, and rescued with Taz (from the same littler.) Duke is the chewer of the group and as a pup he chewed on EVERYTHING from my bed & blankets to basketballs.
As he grew older, I have trained him to chew on only the bones we buy him.
He has selective hearing & a short attention span, B UT if there is food involved…he knows exactly what he is suppose to do for it and I get his Undivided Attention for as long as it takes!
.
Little Girl:
The only girl of the pack, she was given to me by a friend who was moving and did not want to take her to a shelter.
A fun loving cat that loves baths, beating up the kittens, and scaring any unsuspecting person who walks by her perch (Her favorite place in the house.) Beware! If you walk by without paying attention…she will bop you on the head with her paw!
And Trust me…if you are not paying attention your heart jumps into your throat!
.
These last two were originally my younger brother’s cats, I was holding them while he moved and somehow they never left.
Bob:
A funny youngster that loves to clean the dogs on a normal basis.
He is the cleanest cat I have ever seen and has the oddest eating habits (pushes the food up the side of the bowl…most of it falls out onto the floor.)
He loves to lay with the dogs and use their paws as a way to scratch his back. You can generally find him laying with Taz, as I think he wants to be the next Alpha Male and is taking lessons.
.
And last but not least the baby:
Jay:
Jay is the cutest cat I have ever had, demanding his love first thing in the morning and cuddling with me when I am working on the computer.
He talks to me all of the time and loves to be the center of attention.
He plays with dog bones that are as big as he is and tries to keep them from Duke…it never works well cause Duke just pushes him off or picks up the bone from underneath him.
.
.
My Future Animals include:
10 Horses
2 Great Danes (natural ears)
And I am thinking on buying a full working ranch, run by someone else due to my current business and traveling habits.
If you have any funny Animal Stories or would like to share then leave it in the comment section! I would love to hear from you and see pictures of your animals.
