It’s the beginning of your business and you are READY!

That’s right baby…you have:

- Opened up all of your Social Media Accounts
- Watched every How To Video there is for online marketing
- Bought your URLs
- Got your blog set up and started
- All of your backgrounds are in place
- The goals are written
- Your schedule is made
- And ALL the other stuff

You start to get that ball rolling and you are doing well at keeping up with most of these things.  You write a blog post here and there, you get an article out some days, and you are fairly good at Twitter & Facebook.  In fact, you even started with YouTube.

I grew up with little means.  In fact my first car was…to put it bluntly, worse than a beater.

You know the type I’m talking about: no paint job, had a bit of cancer showing, no radio, bald tires, the a/c was 2-60 (2 windows down at 60 mph), it had dings and dents, drank fuel for breakfast (lucky for me gas costs $0.88 per gallon) and the engine had seen better days…

…the only thing about this car that made it useful was that it got me from point A to point B and never broke down.

One of my friends asked me “Doesn’t that car embarrass you?” and my answer was always “No.”

You see, when it comes down to it, what is the purpose of a car?

To get you from Point A to Point B…so if the rubber meets the road and it can propel you forward then who cares what it looks like.  I was a 16 year old kid that had a set of wheels.  My friends would call me to go places because I could drive us there!

So my question to you this week is: Would you rather be moving forward in a beater or have a sleek mustang sitting in the driveway with no engine?

This next success quality can be up for debate; however, I believe this is a part of who we are as a larger group.

Successful Leaders are Fair and Honest (sometimes brutally so…)

For example: When I was just starting out as a newbie Online Marketer I had a mentor tell me 2 things:

1. ”Misty Shut Up! You Talk To Fu**ing Much”
2. “You Can’t Do It….Not With Your Current Mindset.”

Talk about a spoon full of brutal honestly and quite frankly…a wakeup call.  Now that I look back at that instance 2 years ago…I know that he was right and it changed my outlook on many things in my business.

If you want lasting success then you have to do it honestly and with integrity. It has been proven time and again that if you cheat your way to the top or you screw with other people…you tend to get caught & punished.

So if you are looking to be successful then do it with some honesty attached.

This is actually one of the reasons I joined the company I did because they understand that a good 10-15% of people who want an online business should not even consider starting any business.

So they created a simple application that allows us to weed these people out and turn them down, suggesting that they should probably keep their day job or come back when the time was better for them to have a greater chance at success.

The truth is…Business is not for everyone and those companies that accept anyone with a pulse and a credit card should not only be shut down but you should run from them as fast as you can!

The time you could waste on a person who is not qualified is tremendous and if you did not get into business to babysit grown adults then you might want to take this into consideration.

So Be Honest & Be Fair to those you do business with…it will help you create sustainable success.
